Lovelights!
The 2025 Lovelights campaign is on!
It's Lovelights season! Lovelights is the major fundraiser for Friends of McMIchael Park, helping to support our ongoing stewardship and community activities. For just $5.00, you can dedicate a light on our Lovelights Tree to a loved one, a cause, your favorite critter, or almost anything else.
In 2024, your contributions went toward entertainment events including Shakespeare in the Park and our movie night and toward building a community message board and tool shed. We're planning more fun, along with important maintenance activities, for 2025, and we need the resources to do it.
Lovelight contributions can be made by checks or through Venmo. Checks made out to Friends of McMichael Park can be sent to our treasurer, Cathy McCoy, at 3123 West Coulter Street, Philadelphia, PA 19129. Venmo contributions can be sent to @Friends-of-McMichael-Park. With all contributions, please show your name as you’d like it to be listed, and the name(s) of the dedicatees.
All dedications received by Valentine's Day, February 14, will be acknowledged in East Falls NOW and on our website.
Questions? Just reply to this email, or drop us a note at McMIchaelPark@gmail.com.
Love Your Park
It's time to tidy up McMichael Park for the winter! The McMichael Park Fall Cleanup, part of the city-wide Love Your Park Day, takes place on Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. We’ll be planting a few dozen bulbs, mostly in the garden above the playspace, and this will also be a good opportunity to prune trees and get branches and other debris out of the park. As always, we need people – up to 25 if possible. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
Please register at this link.
Rain date? Sure, it will be on November 16, and we'll alert registrants if we need to postpone.
BARBIE! Movie Night
Bring your blankets and get ready for another fun and free Movie Night in McMichael Park!
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK- The Comedy of Errors: Real Housewives of Ephesus.
After almost 20 years of providing accessible performance to West Philadelphia, Philadelphia's Shakespeare in Clark Park is thrilled to be touring an all-new Shakespeare adaptation created by local playwright Megan Schumacher, The Comedy of Errors: Real Housewives of Ephesus. This hour-long take on Shakespeare's earliest comedy mixes the Bard's classic language with contemporary commentary and hilarity ensues! Hear from the women of Ephesus as they watch their men stumble and stammer over mistaken identity, missed connections and a freak series of boat accidents. Directed by Producing Artistic Director Shamus and featuring a team of Barrymore Award Winners & Nominees, Shakespeare in Clark Park alumni and local Shakespeare standouts. It's 70% Shakespeare, 30% reality television and 100% hilarious!
